Please remember to bring to your bridal dress alterations appointment:
Your dress in a breatheable gown cover on a strong hanger is best
Your bridal shoes,
Any support underwear you may wish to wear inc stick on bras or inserts
A petticoat if you wish to wear one with your dress
Failure to bring all your items to your fitting may result in a new appointment being required at an extra charge.
Missed or rescheduled fittings may effect your deadline and not always have preferred new date/times available. Therefore it is essential to keep to timings to avoid disappointment and extra charges.
Minimum notice is 24 hours notice. 1 week ahead is best if need to swap dates/times. Failure to do so will incur a cancellation fee of £50-£100.
All payments taken are non refundable due to the nature of work involved.
Fitting fees vary from £15-£35 depending on the booking. All of which are non refundable. These cover admin and your fitting appointment inc collection appointment.
It’s best to discuss your dress alterations ahead of your appointment to obtain a preliminary pricing guide. This is a guide and not necessarily the set figure at the end of the fitting appointment produced. This maybe due to more or different work required now seen in person compared to a picture sent online. The preliminary guide is there to help you to plan your budgets.
At the end of your fitting a definitive list of work and pricing is drawn up into an invoice for your to read, date and sign. By doing so you are giving Sarah Shepherd Dressmaker the rights to fulfill the work necessary on your dress and that you will fufill payment in full.
Payment is made 50% of the total invoice within 24 hours of the first fitting. The final 50% plus any sundry items if any is payable before the dress is released from Sarah Shepherd Dressmaker. Payment is made online transfer or cash on collection day.
Your first alterations appointment is recommended to be held 8wks before your wedding date. With a follow up appointment 4-6 wks later. This allows us both time for any extras required or any delays out of our control. The follow up appointment will be made at your first fitting appointment.
Collection means you must take your dress away on your final dress try on/collection appointment and it will only be released if all payments are cleared. You will be asked to sign a release form. Once in your care it is advised to keep your dress hung tall as it was here until your wedding day to keep it as crease free as possible. Failure to collect your dress may result in extra storage fees at £2 per day.
There is a steaming service available by Sarah Shepherd Dressmaker. Prices vary and are given at your fitting. Your dress alterations will often be completed initially and your dress steaming will be completed a working day before collection for best quality.
If you dress has been bought preloved, a heirloom or as a sample dress purchase, these often have marks and loose items and defects. These will need to be talked through at your fitting. Sarah Shepherd Dressmaker takes no responsibility for any defects from these dress types.
This business is fully insured. Which means your dress is in good care with Sarah Shepherd Dressmaker, it covers liability for your dress including your wellbeing whilst visiting.
Sarah Shepherd isn’t liable for any accessories or small extra items left behind or in your bag separate to your dress.
